From Policy to Practice: Operationalizing Accessibility and AI Policies in Higher Education

About This Webinar
Higher education leaders are being asked to implement complex, high-stakes mandates—accessibility requirements, AI governance expectations, and evolving approaches to “(not) DEI”—often amid shifting regulations, organizational restructuring, and limited capacity. The central challenge is not policy development. It is execution.
This webinar focuses on change implementation: how institutions can move from announcements, compliance documents, and strategic statements to consistent, institution-wide practice.
Using the Accelerating Implementation Methodology (AIM) as a lens, the session will examine how leaders can define the scope of change, build active sponsorship, align decentralized units, anticipate resistance, and sustain results over time. The emphasis is on practical, operational leadership in complex environments—not on any single policy domain.
Panelists will share real-world lessons from implementing cross-cutting initiatives that affect academic affairs, student services, IT, HR, legal/compliance, and institutional governance. Examples will include accessibility compliance efforts, the reimagining of DEI functions and workforce roles, and emerging AI policies—but these serve as case contexts, not the primary focus.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will gain insight into how to:
- Translate high-level mandates into coordinated institutional action
- Clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision authority across units
- Maintain momentum during uncertainty, restructuring, or political pressure
- Support staff whose roles are changing as initiatives evolve
- Prevent implementation fatigue and fragmented efforts
- Build durable systems that outlast leadership transitions
